This read-aloud book activity can be used to teach figurative language to students in 3rd, 4th & 5th grade. The resource includes posters, various activities, and an assessment. Use the book Dalton’s Dress-Up Dilemma with this product to teach your students about a variety of figurative language styles.

1. 9 COLORED POSTERS that have examples of idiom, simile, metaphor, alliteration, imagery, hyperbole, personification, onomatopoeia & oxymoron
EACH POSTER CONTAINS:
❀ Definition and example of the figurative language style.
❀ Picture using the example.
❀ Extra examples of the figurative language style.
2. FLIP-BOOK ACTIVITY:
Students find examples of idioms, similes, metaphors, alliteration, imagery, hyperbole, personification, onomatopoeias & oxymorons.
3. PUZZLE MATCHING ACTIVITY:
❀ This product is designed to be used in centers, as a pair, or independently by a student.
❀ As seen in the preview, each puzzle piece contains the word, definition, and an example. Once cut apart, the puzzle pieces will only fit if the puzzle is put together correctly.
4. MATCHING ASSESSMENT ACTIVITY:
Have students show their knowledge on each of the styles of Figurative Language. The answer key is provided for easy grading.
