Description

Students will love using this Creative Writing 4th & 5th grade resource to learn to write using these funny pictures. Use this sentence-building activity to help your 4th & 5th-grade students to think of ideas to write short stories and have fun doing it!

I use the sentence stretchers to have students practice elaborating a sentence. Print off the slides and have students elaborate by adding adjectives, adverbs, verbs, prepositional phrases, and proper and regular nouns. As students practice, their sentences get more interesting.

Have students quick-write using the fun and wacky scenarios provided to challenge your student’s imagination.

To keep all in one spot, hole punch the slides and have students add them to their writing folder. You will be able to see them grow as a writer over time. The quick writes are outstanding for student conferencing.

❀ 10 caption this prompts with short story paragraph writing

❀ Spinner, creative writing choice board, graphic organizer & lined paper (Students use a spinner to have a character, setting randomly, and problem selected for them. They then use the graphic organizer to write a short story.)
